Motif Labs is one of Canada’s leading cannabis extraction and manufacturing facilities, recognized for crafting high-quality, differentiated vape and pre-roll products under brands such as BOXHOT, Debunk, Rizzlers, and Boondocks. Their meticulous approach to product development is matched by a strong focus on scalability and efficiency, powered in part by their ongoing partnership with ATG Pharma.
The Challenge
As demand for Motif’s products grew rapidly, their team needed to scale production without compromising quality or consistency. In early 2023, they faced a critical decision: how to increase throughput across vape SKUs while maintaining flavour integrity and hardware compatibility.
The Solution
ATG Pharma provided Motif Labs with a suite of automation solutions tailored to meet their evolving production needs. These included:
- The RoboCAP automated filling machine
- The MonoPress for semi-automated packaging support
- Both 9-unit and 50-unit MonoBlox to accommodate different output volumes
What began with single-nozzle filling evolved into a dual-nozzle configuration, allowing Motif to consistently fill several hundred units per hour. As demand scaled, so did their capabilities, with 1,000+ units/hour becoming a routine benchmark.
The Results
Motif Labs filled close to 10 million cartridges in 2023, with hundreds of thousands of those filled using ATG’s RoboCAP RL-Series. With robust filling systems in place, the company has been able to:
